Personal Style: Cool as a Culotte – Gingerly Witty

Personal Style: Cool as a Culotte

Gingerly Witty Culottes

Culottes have made a comeback in a big way in 2017. And who can blame them? They're stylish as hell. The new, loose cropped trousers are here to stay and in  a variety of forms. From different colors, patterns, and textures, these pantalones are just getting snazzier and quickly becoming the go-to pant of your neighborhood cool girl. But how do you wear culottes? Countless ways actually! So rest assured, if you invest in a pair of trendy culottes, you will not be left astray.

Below are some points to consider when picking out a pair of culottes.

1. Bright Colors or Calming Neutrals?

- Colors can be a great way to highlight your chosen pair of culottes.

- When in doubt, stick with solid neutrals like black, grey, and khaki.

2. Stripes: Elegant & Elongating

- Vertical stripes are a great trick for elongating your figure.

- Plus, there's nothing more elegant than a classic stripe.

3. Experiment with Different Fabrics & Textured Elements

- In the pictures we see examples of both leather and a wool culotte. This is a particularly cutting edge approach to the trend. A pleated culotte is also an fashionable option.

4. Heels or Flats?

- Both! Though I'd steer clear of any boot higher than a Chelsea boot. Strappy sandals for summer days or a 90s clunky heel for a night out downtown work great!

5. Classic Structured Pairing Pieces

- When in doubt,  pair your culottes with tailored pieces featuring details like button-down fronts and collars.

6. Crop it Off

- Crop tops go great with culottes.

7. But seriously, they're just like pants

- Almost every type of top goes with culottes - basic tees, skin-tight one-pieces, or a silk cami. I could carry on, but I digress. Culottes are simply awesome.

1. When I moved to LA I knew nobody. This is a helpful guide to making friends in a new city when you're an adult.

Travel: Stories Books & Café + Around Echo Park

Gingerly Witty Travel Los Angeles Echo Park LA style fashion

Last Sunday, I had the honor of shooting with Annie Moses (@anniewmphoto) and Kimmy Shields at Stories Books & Café.

Stories is a favorite LA haunt of mine and it just so happens that it's right next door to our shop! Apart from being a local and independently run bookstore, the space doubles as a café, which includes a backyard patio. The menu is distinctly Californian fare, from their classic take on avocado toast with eggs, hummus platter, and...

Personal Style: Embroidery, a Jumpsuit, AND a Bandana

Gingerly Witty Personal Style: Embroidery, a Jumpsuit, AND a Bandana

The other day, Annie and I went out to grab some photos out and about in Echo Park. I wanted something casual, yet unique so I grabbed these LACAUSA overalls/jumpsuit, an embroidered tank and a white bandana to top off the look.

I love going out and simply taking photos with Annie. Not only is she super talented, but she's easy to work with and feel comfortable around even when you're not an expert model, which is...

Personal Style: Nothing Abstract About It

Abstract art is one of the hottest runway fashion inspirations. From Kadinski to Pollock, abstract prints have been "in" for quite some time. Our favorite abstract print? The one on our Anja Dress by Amanda Moss.

However, you might be thinking, "Erin, abstract art is cool and all. But wearing it? Forgeddaboutit!" Below are some examples of how to rock that abstract art through your clothes, whether your aim...
