Personal Style: I Walk the Line - Stripes & How to Rock Them

I have a love affair with stripes. If you have stepped in to the store recently, it's obvious. There are stripes on tees, on blouses, on split-back tanks, etc. They're all over the place for a reason though - they're timeless! However, some people steer clear of stripes out of fear that they might overwhelm an outfit or they're already wearing a pattern and don't know if the stripes will mesh well. Well, for the timid or the brave, below is a list of how to rock stripes this summer season. And be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post to grab a striped tee of your own from our online shop!

1. Overalls

If you know me, you know I love some good overalls or jumpsuit. Trust me when I say that stripes and overalls go together like peanut butter and jelly.

2. Mom Jeans / High Waisted Pants

Ya'll know I love a good mom jean / high waisted pant and stripes are no exception. In fact, the pairing gives off an classic old school vibe in my opinion.

3. Pattern Mix

Pattern mixing an be tricky, but is so rewarding when you can pull it off! I tend to just feel it out if the mix looks right. A good key is to look at proportion and the "busy factor." If it looks like too much, it probably is. Another tip is to stick to florals and stripes as an option. This is almost foolproof. Plus, you can pattern mix with just the addition of a patterned scarf.

4. Bright Colors

Bright colors might seem like they may not work with stripes, but they in fact go hand in hand. So rock that bright colored skirt!

5. Crop It

Another option for striped tees is to wear a cropped one. Be sure to pair with a pair of high waisted pants to ensure you only show what you want to show.

5. Skirt / Jumper

Striped tees can also go underneath a jumper or with a skirt, whether short or long.

Wow! I can't believe I almost forgot about our weekly linkfest! Things have been quite hectic on the personal side of things, but that seems to be settling down now. Anyway, let's get into it!

1. When I moved to LA I knew nobody. This is a helpful guide to making friends in a new city when you're an adult.

Travel: Stories Books & Café + Around Echo Park

Gingerly Witty Travel Los Angeles Echo Park LA style fashion

Last Sunday, I had the honor of shooting with Annie Moses (@anniewmphoto) and Kimmy Shields at Stories Books & Café.

Stories is a favorite LA haunt of mine and it just so happens that it's right next door to our shop! Apart from being a local and independently run bookstore, the space doubles as a café, which includes a backyard patio. The menu is distinctly Californian fare, from their classic take on avocado toast with eggs, hummus platter, and...

Personal Style: Embroidery, a Jumpsuit, AND a Bandana

Gingerly Witty Personal Style: Embroidery, a Jumpsuit, AND a Bandana

The other day, Annie and I went out to grab some photos out and about in Echo Park. I wanted something casual, yet unique so I grabbed these LACAUSA overalls/jumpsuit, an embroidered tank and a white bandana to top off the look.

I love going out and simply taking photos with Annie. Not only is she super talented, but she's easy to work with and feel comfortable around even when you're not an expert model, which is...

Personal Style: Nothing Abstract About It

Abstract art is one of the hottest runway fashion inspirations. From Kadinski to Pollock, abstract prints have been "in" for quite some time. Our favorite abstract print? The one on our Anja Dress by Amanda Moss.

However, you might be thinking, "Erin, abstract art is cool and all. But wearing it? Forgeddaboutit!" Below are some examples of how to rock that abstract art through your clothes, whether your aim...
