Personal Style: Modestly Sexy Festival Fashion

Gingerly Witty Modestly Sexy Festival Fashion

So, Coachella weekend #1 has passed and we officially learned that Coachella is the place for the latest fashion. While all the styles are beautifully bohemian and sexy, I found myself seeing a lot of outfits I simply wouldn't wear because they revealed just a little too much for my liking. For me, I like being coy and cute in how I choose to dress myself. While I think I dress on the modest side, I'm sure some people will see some of these styles as still too revealing. Others will find my choices just not sexy enough considering the festival atmosphere. And that's totally cool! I tend to opt for wears that are slightly revealing, like a plunging low neckline, an exposed back, or a simple crop top. They're not for everyone. But anyway, below are some trends I've noticed.

1. Sheer is sexy

If there's one trend I noticed this year it would be sheer. Sheer is a great way to get away with wearing comfortable, yet sexy undergarments and just covering everything in the sheer fabric.

2. Maxi/Midi skirts paired with crop tops

This is a look I plan on rocking for FYF in July. I love the feel of skirts on a hot summer day and a crop top is the perfect way to wear something high waisted. You can go extra boho by wearing a skirt in a tribal print. I also love the whole Rock & Roll element of adding a vintage feeling band tee.

3. The Festival Staple Outfit: Denim Cutoffs - opt for something more unique like high-waisted cuffed Levi's.

This is an old standby for those on the festival circuit. Denim is comfortable and booty flattering and goes with all kinds of tops. Since I'm including something not so trendy per se, I decided to feature cut-offs in well styled outfits. This includes taking a risk on an usually shaped top, something vintage, top notch accessorizing, and overall coolness.

4. Texture: Lace, Fringe, and Crochet

This year, I'm really looking to up my festival game. And I think adding some sort of hippy-inspired texture will be key. In this section of this post, I'll be posting actual pieces I'm hoping to wear in my FYF outfits.

Wow! I can't believe I almost forgot about our weekly linkfest! Things have been quite hectic on the personal side of things, but that seems to be settling down now. Anyway, let's get into it!

Travel: Stories Books & Café + Around Echo Park

Gingerly Witty Travel Los Angeles Echo Park LA style fashion

Last Sunday, I had the honor of shooting with Annie Moses (@anniewmphoto) and Kimmy Shields at Stories Books & Café.

Stories is a favorite LA haunt of mine and it just so happens that it's right next door to our shop! Apart from being a local and independently run bookstore, the space doubles as a café, which includes a backyard patio. The menu is distinctly Californian fare, from their classic take on avocado toast with eggs, hummus platter, and...

Personal Style: Embroidery, a Jumpsuit, AND a Bandana

Gingerly Witty Personal Style: Embroidery, a Jumpsuit, AND a Bandana

The other day, Annie and I went out to grab some photos out and about in Echo Park. I wanted something casual, yet unique so I grabbed these LACAUSA overalls/jumpsuit, an embroidered tank and a white bandana to top off the look.

I love going out and simply taking photos with Annie. Not only is she super talented, but she's easy to work with and feel comfortable around even when you're not an expert model, which is...

Personal Style: Nothing Abstract About It

Abstract art is one of the hottest runway fashion inspirations. From Kadinski to Pollock, abstract prints have been "in" for quite some time. Our favorite abstract print? The one on our Anja Dress by Amanda Moss.

However, you might be thinking, "Erin, abstract art is cool and all. But wearing it? Forgeddaboutit!" Below are some examples of how to rock that abstract art through your clothes, whether your aim...
